- The slot of the foot allows the gathering of one piece of fabric while it is being attached to another (ungathered) layer. A ruffle can be made and attached in one operation
- The amount of gathering can be adjusted by varying stitch length and needle thread tension
- For heavier fabrics, the use of the long stitch or basting stitch will facilitate gathering
- The distance between rows of gathering ranges from a minimum of 3/16" (5mm) to a maximum of 3/8" (10mm)
- For applications where exact control of the gathering ratio is required, consider the use of the Bernina® Ruffler (# 86).
- Please advise the model of your Bernina machine when ordering this foot, so we can check it is suitable.
